World Maritime Day

Each year, on the last Thursday of September, World Maritime Day is celebrated — a date dedicated to recognizing the importance of the oceans and the maritime industry in our lives. This year, under the theme «New Technologies for Greener Shipping», the International Maritime Organization (IMO) highlights the need for innovation and sustainability in the sector.

The oceans are essential for life on Earth: they regulate the climate, provide food, and serve as a key channel for global trade, with more than 80% of goods transported by sea. However, they face challenges such as pollution, climate change, and overfishing. This day invites us to reflect on how we can protect these vital resources.

From the adoption of clean energy on vessels to the reduction of plastics in our daily lives, we can all contribute to a more sustainable future. Let us celebrate World Maritime Day by committing to care for our oceans!
